Hi Guys!
The weather here is Chicago has been anything short of hot. It's been super rainy and cool. Blah! I love 90 degree weather. I guess I shouldn't complain because I continue to live here despite the weather. GAH!!!

So while I've been busy enjoying the little bit of summer that Chicago has offered us, I sewed up my most favorite top ever!!!

Please excuse the horrid bathroom selfie pic. I was on vacation and decided that I was cute enough for a pic.

This is my Grainville shirt. This top is such a staple for me, you just wouldn't even understand. I think I have worn this probably 5 times already.
The pattern is from Sewaholic. It is a fitted button down shirt with front darts and back princess seams. It features a self lined yolk, two piece collar, some awesome instructions and a beautifully done sewalong.

The top is drafted for long sleeves with plackets, however, because it's summer, I just had to make it sleeveless (and polka dot).

I followed Jen's instructions on how to make it sleeveless. I was quite nervous, as I had not made a muslin. But I think it turned out quite nice.

The fabric is a 100% cotton polka dot fabric from JoAnn's and some really simple clear buttons. I did a small bust adjustment (as I always have to do) and shaved about an inch off the bottom.

I love this top to pieces and already have another one cut out for my daughter, who has been begging for one. I give this pattern an A+++.

On a another side note, I realized that many of my most successful makes have been with fabric bought from JoAnn's. In my opinion, JoAnn's is the store that you love to hate, but have to go to. I've been trying to keep up with buying "high quality" fabrics from high end stores online and etc.. but I've noticed that even though JoAnn's sells a lot of polyester fabrics that are really crap, they actually have some nice stuff too.

Tell me what you guys think.

Until next time
